Back in my aspiring fashion designer days...

After doing some back-to-school cleaning, I unearthed a binder filled with all my fashion sketches from 2005, when I was in 7th grade! Talk about a blast from the past :D I actually LOLed at many of my old designs. Honestly, I make a lot of rad stuff now, but boy, it's a good thing I never actually created the outfits I drew back then...some are absolutely despicable! Here are some that really probably should have stayed hidden under my bed...

I'm not quite sure what's going on with the fabric...is that a bathing suit? If it is, it sure doesn't cover very much...

My obsession with graphic tees meshed with my obsession with video games, literally. A Mario tee layered over a mesh shirt, REALLY. But the baggy cargo pants are so distractingly...masculine?...that you almost don't notice :D

I briefly went through a hippie phase and drew a lot of peasant skirts...which can be very beautiful, but when paired with wellers, a crocret fanny-pack, and an oversize corset belt, and worn by Sailor Moon (my idol at the time), they kinda lose their appeal...

Lace and satin body suit with poofy shoulders. And a creepy model. I'd rather not go there.

Dolce and Gabbana had designed a similar belt at the time, and I wanted to design something like it...but I think I killed that trend with my showy lace bra straps and ostrich skirt thing (:

Again with the obnoxious graphic tees. This time with a lace trim jean skirt and combat boots. Not quite sure what was running through my head when I drew this...

Despite the scary bad drawings, there were a couple of gems in the bunch. Well, rather, they were headed in the right direction. Take a look:

This gradient V-neck gown paired with T-strap heels and a bow clutch (similar to the one from my current OLIVAROSE line! http://olivarose.webs.com/olivarose.htm )has a lot of edge and elegance. Perhaps it's impractical, but it's certainly not another graphic tee (:

Leather and pumps (and a chic bob)! All elements of this Fall 2009...Once again, impractical (probably uncomfortable also) but at least trendy :D

Again with the leather, this time a yellow dress. The buttons and sash belt are tacky, but the make-up and hairstyle are rad, as are the leggings, another hot item this season.

More leather, another black leather dress and thigh high boots. H&M and Gucci, anyone? I find it bizarre that I sketched this fashion-forward outfit, and literally minutes later, on the same sheet of paper, drew this:

My excuse: I was young and my ideas hadn't...consolidated yet (;

Well, I guess it took a lot of bad sketches and rough ideas to finally find the right looks and trends (: It's hard to believe I've been drawing since 2005...and I started sewing an entire year ago...time certainly flies. Well, it's awesome to see how much I've improved, at the least (:

Tschuss, meine Freunden!

my new OLIVAROSE blog!

Okay, so this is the new official OLIVAROSE apparel&design blog! For those of you that don't know, my name's Rose, and I'm the designer behind ORAD, OLIVAROSE apparel&design, and OLIVAROSE couture. Though I thinking mostly I'm creating this blog for my own entertainment (:D), it's gonna be a rad way to keep y'all updated on what going on behind in the scenes and in the future of OLIVAROSE. And other random stuff that I find significant (;

So! Big news! For Miss Blue Devil this year, I'm entering with the talent of fashion design...which means I'll be having a fashion show!! I have 24 outfits, and I obviously can't model them all myself (:, so I'm gonna need a good number of models to help me out! I'm looking for girls and guys, and not just for modeling, but also for backstage stuff like timing coordination, runway design, make-up, and hair styling...there's a lot of stuff going in this show, basically, and I need all the help I can get (: Anyone who helps will be compensated in merchandise! hahaha :D For girls looking to model, I'm looking for girls with measurements CLOSE to bust 35, waist 28, hip 40. If you are smaller, excellent, if you are bigger, that's still okay and I will find an outfit for you to rock all the same (: Height doesn't matter to me, and also, when walking on the runway, I'm not making heels a requirement, seeing as I don't want people tripping, including myself :D Please contact me at oliva.rose@live.com or MySpace message me at myspace.com/olivarose if you are interested in helping out!

Here is some runway inspiration for those of you wanting to model:

Rock it like Coco Rocha (1:12)! Versace models always have awesome tough-girl runway attitude (: For those of you who are impatient, jump to 2:54 for the couture dresses, which are SO BEAUTIFUL, even for 3 years ago. For the really really impatient, 6:15 is the closing walk, so you can quickly see all the dresses (:

Okay, done typing for now (: tschuss!
